Back to the brrr

Man, it is COLD. Who cranked off the heat in our absence? I mean, it wasn’t exactly balmy before but  it seems to have gotten a whole lot colder in the week or so we were away. Maybe Singapore’s 34° weather spoiled me, but I’m really wishing I had bought my winter coat before I left, so I wouldn’t have to have more layers than a French pastry before stepping out the door.

Enough of my moaning though, and back to business. I have a few shots to share from our trip to Bali and Singapore. Will we start with Bali?

I completely fell in love with the island – the beautifully fragrant smell, the little offerings dotted everywhere, the dozens of temples, the exotic fruits, the delicious food and the very warm and lovely people.

This was the rice field view from our hotel at Ubud, the lovely Alam Jiwa.

It was a great spot, the rooms were laid out gorgeously, complete with a kind of inside, kind of outside shower, giant balcony with a daybed and a bowl of fresh fruit (even if some of it looked a bit freaky! I wish I had asked someone what the spiky fruit was, or, better still, wish I had been brave enough to actually try it).

The grounds of the hotel were stunning, as was the way it was furnished – everything, no matter how practical, was also in some way pretty. I loved it. The second shot here is of our inside/outside shower.

A couple of pics from around Ubud…

Still to come: the monkey forest and a few shots from Singapore.

Yep, the temperature did drop quite a bit while you were away – swap your sandals for winter boots!

Just the perfect post for a bit of monday morning desk-bound daydreaming…. can’t wait to see more :)

Gorgeous pics! Great pic of the kid at the end, was that as part of a parade or carnival of some kind? I get what you mean about the spiky fruit…looks like it’d be either gross or delicious lol.

Thanks :) That pic of the kid was from a Balinese dance ceremony we went to, it was beautiful, but quite far away and in the dark so I didn’t get too many usable shots sadly. And I TOTALLY regret not trying the spiky fruit.
