No snow or mistletoe…
But there are presents under the tree!

Nothing beats a bit of brown paper and red twine.

{Photo nerd filter: I love the sparkles that shooting with a small aperture gives you, but also adore the dainty bokeh and shallow depth-of-field that shooting wide open allows. So for the top shot I did both, and combined the exposures in Photoshop afterwards, in an effort to get the best of both worlds. In case any one is wondering!}

sometimes it feels like you’re reading my mind, honestly…! kraft paper & bakers twine ftw
I thought your lights were lovely and extra sparkly, that’s a clever mix of two shots. Lovely lovely stuff.

Seriously, we need to get our crafty heads together some time! And thanks, it had been a while since I’d had the tripod out, poor thing had been feeling very lonely!

I LOVE the starburst off the lights in the first shot Nathalie!
Apart from merging the two shots did you do any other processing or was it just a really really small aperture?!

Thanks Colin!
The shot with the sparkles and small aperture was a good bit darker and hadn’t captured as much of that pretty, ambient glowy light so I played around with the opacity of the large aperture shot used the erase tool to really define the sparkles until I was happy with the overall look.
I’d say I also would have run a slight S curve layer and sharpened!
Hope that helps!
