Under Construction

Keepsakes

This wee blog is close to celebrating it’s one-year blog-aversary so I thought this would be a good time to tell you that I’m in the process of making a few changes to it.

Some of them cosmetic (and – I think – very lovely) and some of them editorial. The design changes mean different image sizing and other fiddly things, so I’ve been holding off on a few posts until they’re in place.

As for the editorial ones – well, I was sorting out my Google Reader recently, and I realised that I largely grouped photobloggers into two piles – the pros, who blog amazing photos of their latest shoots and jobs, and the personals, whose blogs contain some professional work, but mainly detail their day-to-day musings and creative endeavours. When I first launched the site, I thought I wanted to be one of the former, and created this blog with that in mind – big images, and, hopefully a bit of a pro feel. However, I think that made it tough for me to post more frivolous, silly stuff (you may wonder how it can possibly get sillier than this, but it can) and more personal posts. The past few months have been full of changes and upheavals for me, and, although I’ve never been one to get too personal, I did feel that my current set-up meant I had to hold back a lot here.

This post’s title sort of sums up how I feel these days, a bit of a ‘work in progress’ both personally and in terms of my photography, and that doesn’t really gel with a slick and pro approach. So look out for what I hope is a slightly more personal blog in the coming days (a photoblog, as opposed to a photographer’s blog, if you will).

I hope you stick around :)

P.S.I couldn’t post without a pic so the shot above is of a few few personal bits and pieces, including a very old polaroid pic (we were dancing to a Trevor Nelson set at Temple Theatre. Yup. That long.) and a shot of me at my Debs (yes, all suitably blurry).

I compiled this for a feature in KISS Debs about keepsakes, and holding on to old momentos. I’m a total hoarder so I only had to look through a couple of shoeboxes to find these!
