Exploring Killegar House | Part 1
Some shots from a gorgeous weekend in Killegar House, Co Leitrim. Built in 1813, it has a long, colourful and fascinating history and I felt very lucky to be able to spend a couple of days soaking it in. The lovely Lady Sue lives there, and is working hard to raise funds to restore the property – while there are stunning stately rooms crammed with books that are hundreds of years old, there are also rooms that are very literally crumbling away.
You can read more about the house here, or read this Irish Independent interview about Lady’s Sue’s “ruin with a view” here. Ben and I headed down with a few friends and spent our weekend going on long country walks around the estate, gathering in the kitchen by the warmth of a giant Aga, or, in my case, lighting a fire and taking a very long afternoon nap in one of the beautiful bedrooms.
