An Arrested Development-themed Recipe

Frozen Banana recipe |

I’m fairly new to Arrested Development. Ben is a huge fan, so planned a small get-together with other hard core fans to watch the Netflix stream of the new season (all 15 episodes of it) on Sunday. I tagged along on the promise of a barbecue breakfast (a delicious egg, sausage and rasher bap), some jokes about never nudes and for a chance to try making a frozen banana. Have you ever tried frozen bananas? Turns out they’re delicious. Of course, anything dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with hundreds and thousands is bound to be tasty. Anyway, here’s a little recipe of how we did it, just in case you haven’t made your way through all of the new season yet and need something to help fuel you along.

1 x bunch of bananas (five is loads)

1 x bar of dark chocolate (Lindt are now doing cooking chocolate, but we were going to wing it with Cadbury’s Bourneville until Ben’s mum whipped out some amazing stuff she’d frozen earlier)

Variety of toppings (we had chopped almonds and lots of hundreds and thousands. Guess which one was left un-touched?)

Serves 10

* Chop the bananas in half and insert a lollipop stick or small bamboo skewer into each. Five bananas will yield ten banana-lollies.

* Lay the bananas on a greaseproof-paper lined baking tray

* Pop in the freezer for 15-30 minutes, depending on how frozen you want them

* Once the bananas are out, slowly melt your chocolate in a bain-marie.

*Dip the bananas, sprinkle with the topping of your choice and enjoy – they pretty much just taste like banana ice cream, which is kind of awesome.
