The last few days have been utter bliss. From the insane excitement of Christmas Eve, when I helped my sister put a very giddy six-year-old and equally riled up three-year-old to bed (along with a fairly indifferent one-year-old), to sitting down to a mouth-wateringly delicious meal on Christmas Day, cooked with love by Ben’s mum, Lesley and enjoyed with gusto by both my family and his. The room buzzed – first with excitement, love, and good vibes, later with the sounds of Stevie Wonder as we giggled over Cards Against Humanity.
Since then, there has been a more than average amount of sitting on the couch, listening to records, watching old movies and eating leftovers. I’ve been actively making as few plans as possible and it has been lovely. Tomorrow, we will ring in the new year while simultaneously celebrating Ben‘s 30th birthday. There’ll be booze, Mexican food (from these guys), good friends, and a chance to toast one of my very favourite humans. What better way to end the year?
I hope your holiday season has been filled with equal amounts of chilling, eating and great/dodgy 90s movies (today’s special: Sister Act 2. This still gives me goosebumps). If you’re looking for some motivation and inspiration to get you excited for the year ahead, I’m currently working my way through Susannah Conway’s Unravelling 2015 workbook and loving it.
