My Commuting Essentials

Killer podcasts, noise-cancelling headphones and French lip balm – just some of the things brightening up my daily commute. Truth be told, I look forward to my daily trips in and out (admittedly, it helps that I’m traveling against traffic), especially in these crisp, bright autumn mornings. I fire up the podcast app, and get lost in other worlds and stories on the DART as the coast whizzes by.

These things are currently making me happy on those trips:

  • Bose QuietComfort 25 headphones: Their noise-cancelling powers make podcasting during morning rush hour on the DART a total joy. I researched different headphone types for ages (and in the end rang Ben’s friend who works as a professional soundman) to settle on these and I’m love.
  • Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balmI picked this up when I was in Nice – they’re one of the many things Lisa Eldridge recommends in her French Pharmacie Skincare Favourites vid.
  • Lancôme’s Belle de Teint sheer powderA gorgeous gift from a beauty ed friend, I’m really loving the powder’s “blurring effect” in these days of cold pink noses.

Other must-haves: Leap card, business cards, and Song Exploder (which has been on fire lately).

P.S. Six of my favourite podcasts. New additions include The Allusionist (perfect for word nerds), Longest Shortest Time (a parenting podcast so good that non-parents love it) and Criminal (the one about the vanishing rare books is brilliant).

Happy travels!
